About João

João's music is a mix of influences that range from classic rock to the singer-songwriter tradition, from Brazilian music to IDM and lots more in between. His versatile and sensitive voice sings of heartbreak, anxiety and not knowing your place in the world.

Currently based in Los Angeles, CA, João graduated from Berklee College of Music.  Born in Brazil, João started playing music when he was 15. Having played in many cover bands, he started writing his original music when he turned 20 and hasn’t looked back since, inspired by artists like Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, Björk, Led Zeppelin and Milton Nascimento, João wants to make music that touches people in the same way he was touched by so many people's music,

João makes music because his anxiety and depression greatly improved when he figured out he could express himself through his writing. He wants to be able to connect to people in a deeper way than he can in day-to-day life.

His live band is comprised of Liam Pachler on bass and Joe Tavarez on drums.
